K.C.Y.M.

K.C.Y.M is the official State/Regional Organization under K.C.B.C Commission for youth. The main aim of K.C.Y.M is ‘the Integral Development of the Catholic Youth and the Total Liberation of Human Society in accordance with the Christian values’.

Mission
The main aim of K.C.Y.M is ‘the Integral Development of the Catholic Youth and the Total Liberation of Human Society in accordance with the Christian values’. It is to coordinate and empower the human potentials of youth based on the Gospel values, to make them effective agents of change in the socio-religious-political-economic and cultural reality of India, especially of Kerala through National integration. It also aims at making the youth committed to the serving mission of the Church to the least, last and the lost.

In this regard, suggestions have to be called in from all sections to work out the ways and means as to how it will be possible for youngsters to bring in changes in our culture without sacrificing its values, integrity and dignity. Culture is the theme of our existence as also the backbone of the religious cultural activities. To formulate a liberative culture is not an easy task nor is it the work of an individual alone as it is associated with religion and other cultural activities. Therefore in view of this, we are called collectively and unitedly to reform cultural activities, irrespective if caste, creed and religion so that we can live in the world of today in an atmosphere of understanding, love and togetherness.

To achieve the aim, K.C.Y.M develops one year action plan for the implementation of our aims and objectives, vision and mission through the Theme and Thrust every year. Fellowship, Faith Formation and service are the three main objectives of the Youth Ministry and in order to achieve the same, we organize variety of activities such as Youth meetings, Youth camps, Youth seminars, Youth symposium, Youth rallies, Conventions etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Integral Development of Youth through Formation, Fellowship and Action being the main objectives of youth being the main objectives of youth ministry, ICYM caters to varied needs of the holistic development of its young members. ICYM also coordinates National Delegations to World Youth Days, Asian Youth Days and pilgrimages to Taize. With its motto - "To Lead, to Serve, to Shine" there is a lot to be done and a whole community to be won.

The ICYM ushers in a paradigm shift in the life of the 'Young Church'. The youth in India are in a dilemma of disunity and discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, language and culture. Lack of true leadership, raising fundamentalism, alienation, choking unemployment, corruption at all levels are the alarming realities of the day. As we cruise in to the new millennium with tremendous hope and aspirations, the members of ICYM are now ready to discover the new frontiers that unfold. It is in this distressful context that the ICYM address the need of these young persons and works at empowering them in to action not only within the church but a conscious and deliberate immersion in the mainstream of secular life and activity in the heart of the world.
